Tournament Facts


  • "Calton Player of the Year" is open to Anyone ( of good-character).
  • Teams will be split into 4 age catagories, under 10's...under13's..under16's..and under 65's.
  • Players join the " Tourney" as an individual, and are allocated into a " Team" by way of a "Players Lottery".
  • After the weekly "final" , the players are entered into the " Players Lottery" and allocated into their " New" teams, to play the following week. ( Community Unity).
  • The " Tourney is designed to give the player a chance to claim the title " Calton Player of the Year".
  • Players cannot be substituted.
  • If the "other" team goes to far in front,    for example ,4 - 1 , then a "new player" can be introduced to the game.
  • "New players" are those who want a game , but " Missed " the Players Lottery".
  • All games will be played at the " Pitch" next to St. james' Primary school, in Green street , Calton .Glasgow.
  • The "Players of the Year" award winners are decide by giving each player 1 vote .
  • The tournament starts with a " Pre- Tourney" , press/photo launch on Tuesday / 10 th of  February 2004. 7pm till 9pm.
  • David Hayman of Spirit Aid has provide camera equipment to enable us to capture parts of the " Tourney" on film and digital video. We hope to use the production as a "Promotional documentary".

Kick Off Times


  • During the Three weeks, we hope to be able to let everyone
  • get their fair use of the pitch.  
  • One hour for each age group.
  • 6pm-7pm for the Wee- Yins. ( half-pitch)
  • 7pm-8pm for the 10-12s.
  • 8pm-9pm for the 13-16s.
  • 9pm-10pm for the " Auld Mob"

  • The "Cross" marks the spot...........

Head for the "Barras", on the London Road  side, look out for the " Three Cheers" pub, it's painted in "Black and Cream" , this is the corner of Green Street, 500 yards up the Street you should spot the "School", just before the school on your left is the "PITCH".

  If you happen to enter from "Abercrombie Street", ( you must know where your going), then ask one of the "Dugs " in the Street .
